A total waste of time...

We just got back from the St George Parade of Homes and I am very sad to say this year pretty much blew. I know (and I know you know) I have a tendency to be a little on the picky side when it comes to home design but you don't have to be a design genius to see that this was disastrous! Nothing new, nothing innovative, nothing even close to exciting. That was the worst $25.00 I ever spent. Not to mention now that we don't have the condo anymore, we had to pay for a hotel. Now, don't get me wrong I am not saying they were all awful...nope, never mind, that is exactly what I am saying. They all lacked everything that makes a home show a home show. Keep in mind that I am a firm believer in thinking you don't have to spend a ton of money to make something wonderful. All paint colors cost about the same amount of money. It even saves money to not purchase the disgusting plastic greenery. Space planning is key to any good design, that is also free when building from scratch. I took a picture of the worst design mistake of the year. It is the dual focal points right next to each other. Where are you suppose to look? Not to mention both pieces are... well ... pieces.

The best thing in the show?

This lovely cowgirl.

NEW YORK

Garrett wanted to visit New York. He had never been there
before and he wanted to see The Museum Of Natural History. Of course,
I was more than willing to accommodate him.

We took the red eye Monday night and arrived in JFK at 5 a.m. We had a few hours before the museum opened and we weren't sure what we were going to do. We met a guy on the airtrain who worked on Wall Street. He suggested we go with him so Garrett could see the financial district. He got to see the New York Stock Exchange and The Statue of Liberty. I was just enjoying the amazing architecture. (The financial district is my favorite part of the city as far as architecture goes...) After that we were suppose to head to the museum but we, I mean, I got sidetracked and had to stop over in Tribecca.

Then we headed to the museum.

The museum was great. We both enjoyed it! I have a million
pictures of everything we saw there but I don't want to bore you...

That is Central Park behind me, Garrett wasn't impressed...

Next we went to Time Square. What is a trip to Time Square
without a stop at the Hershey Store?

So we went all over. We went downtown, midtown, uptown and then back to midtown to get
authentic New York pie. It was great. I could definitely get used to these trips.

I was sad that the day had to end. Of course, I was thrilled
to see this on the subway heading back...

Is he irritated because it is time to go home or because if he sees the
camera one more time he is going to scream?
Nadia's Party

For Nadia's birthday she went to build a bear with her best friend and they made special bears. Then she wanted to go shopping and get some clothes. To finish off her special day we all went to Outback Steakhouse for a yummy dinner. She had a great day!

Tom cut off all his beautiful curly locks.
He is a hottie either way.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NADIA!

I can't believe you are already 7 years old.
You are the most beautiful and smart little
girl in the whole world!

Nadia is in first grade. She loves to learn.
She loves lunch and dislikes
recess... Hmmm, just like her mom.

When Nadia wanted to go swimming but couldn't
find her swimming suit, she made her own.
( Yes, that is a Dillards bag... No, I didn't let her wear it.)

Nadia is a natural in ballet. She was born to
to be a dancer.

Nadia has a style all her own,
I have a feeling she will grow up to be a designer
of some sort... Either an architect, clothing designer
or interior designer. She can build a building
out of anything. She can also make clothes out of
anything. She does... everyday.

She is the only person I know that can move
her eyes in different directions. It is pretty
funny... and gross. I find myself telling her
that her eyes will stick that way if she does
it all the time. That's probably a lie, but
it strains my eyes just watching her!

Nadia, You are the most precious, sweet,
talented girl on the planet! I love you
so much!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Brody! I was going to post the picture
of You, me and Mandy with Darryl from The Office because
I know you love that one but I look a hot mess
and it is my blog so... I love this one because it reminds me
of the best time ever!! Anyway, you are a great brother
and the best attorney I know (besides you dad).
Happy 28th!

I love you Tom.
I don't know what I
would do without you!

Tom and I just saw Slumdog millionaire. It was absolutely amazing! The best movie I have seen in a long time. Sorry Benjamin Button, you just got bumped. Wow! It brought out every emotion I am capable of feeling. It was brilliant. Tom and I both agree best movie of 2008. I cried through out most of it, it was so heart wrenching! There were also some happy parts... they were few and far between and I cried there too. Well done India. I am so proud of you. Everyone can relax, I passed my test. I am pretty proud of myself. I studied hard (I would take my homework to the gym and study while riding the bike). I wasn't so sure I would make it so Tom promised me he would take me to Texas Roadhouse if I didn't pass. He also promised to take me to Texas Roadhouse if I did pass... So we went to the roadhouse to eat. My steak tasted much better with my victory than it would have had it been a loss. Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the support you give me! I would be lost without the love and support of my family. You guys are the best! lyndsey valerga

What a glorious day! There was so much excitement and energy in the air as we watched Sen. Obama get sworn in as our 44th President. His speech was of course very eloquent and the delivery could not have been more powerful. I am very proud to say he is my President.

And oh ya, YES WE CAN!

The following excerpt was my favorite part.

We remain a young nation, but in the words of Scripture, the time has come to set aside childish things. The time has come to reaffirm our enduring spirit; to choose our better history; to carry forward that precious gift, that noble idea, passed on from generation to generation: the God-given promise that all are equal, all are free, and all deserve a chance to pursue their full measure of happiness.

Garrett is a natural at the guitar. He has been playing for a
few years now. He rocks the house!

I would be lost without music. It is what makes my world go 'round!

This is me in NYC. It is without a doubt my most favorite place
to be. Don't I look happy? I have just started working very
part time from home for Jetblue . I will still handle my interior
design business, but I will also be enjoying flight benefits of
a Jetblue employee. Now we can fly to New York or anywhere
else we want to... for free!
And they lived happily ever after?

What a good brother, he will do anything
for Nadia... even if it means putting on a
pink chiffon dress with a ruby broach.

Seriously, could Vivian be any
more adorable?

I love this picture. Liam wants
to be just like his daddy.

Oh Glenn, Even though your political views
are ridiculous... I still love you!
