I love a good joke... Not many make me laugh, but for some reason, this one did... My friend Shelby had it on her facebook.
A guy took his girlfriend to her first football game. After the game, he asked her how she liked it. "Oh I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and the big muscles, but I don't get why they were killing each other over 25 cents." Dumbfounded, her date asked,"What do you mean?" "Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback, get the quarterback!' I'm like, helloo... it's only 25 cents"

Love You, New York
I see you're still strong after all that's gone on
Life long we dedicate this song
Just a little something to show some respect
To the city that blends and mends and tests
Since 911 we're still livin'
And loving the life we've been given
Ain't nothing gonna take that away from us
Were looking pretty and gritty 'cause in the city we trust
Dear New York I know a lot has changed
2 towers down but you're still in the game
Home to many, rejecting know one
Accepting peoples of all places, wherever they're from

I am working right now,
As I have been most of the day.
Apart from my work, it's been a fine day.
It seems as though a cold front has decided to settle in and I have to say,
It's been lovely.
Last night even got a little chili, for my toes at least.
And I finally got to pull out my heating pad.
(Not that I really ever put it away)
Oh, how I love heating pad weather.
Forgive me for my pleasantries and weather talk ...

I just don't have any groundbreaking opinions to give tonight.
Surprised?
I thought so.
I just wanted to post these lovely pictures
and see how you are doing?
I hope this post finds you well
And if it doesn't,
I hope looking at these pretty pictures will at least make you smile (temporarily).
It sometimes works for me.

Levi's New Ad Campaign
I have some real opinions on this. I have debated whether or not I should go into it because I feel I often times give too much of an annoyed point of view on things. BUT... I can't help myself today. I will, in the future, choose my battles. But even if this were the future, this would be one battle I would definitely choose. My reason for weighing in on this one: This ad campaign uses the words of Charles Bukowski, who is in my opinion, one of the all time greats. And although this commercial is beautiful to listen to (Thanks to Bukowski, not Levi's) I find it undermines everything he stood for. And frankly, I think it's an insult.
Some of the YouTube comments were great on this topic. I found this one by FreddiPhillips. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Levi's. I like their brand, I like their designs, I like their quality. In fact, I love Levi's... as far as jeans go. But did they really need to take it upon themselves to sell all of the freedom and hope that Bukowski wrote about? That stuff is free.
"You can do all of these things in crusty, thrifted, brandless jeans. Remember."
The Laughing heart
By Charles Bukowski
your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

The Little Things I Love...
When peaches are in season
Expensive toilet paper
Exfoliating shower gloves
Sarcasm
Old Jeans
The perfect pair of sunglasses
Getting my hair washed at the salon
A good Mosquito bite
Worn leather boots
A steak grilled to perfection
Luxurious bath milks and lotions
A smart come back
French toast and hot syrup with cold milk
Thick towels
The night air
In 2003
As I was taking a walk down memory lane tonight, I came across some pictures from the house we built in 2003. It was such a nice home for us. Coming in at just under four thousand square feet, it fit us just perfectly. In fact, it was the first official floor plan that I designed and had the opportunity to live inside of. Looking at the pictures, clearly my tastes have evolved (thank heavens) but I wouldn't mind going back in and remodeling it just a little. Although I do have to admit, those hand scraped wood and travertine floors(which I am so so over) were the easiest floors I have ever taken care of. And the stained moulding and doors? They didn't show a thing. Not to mention they were antiqued, so any dings or marks they did show only improved the look. Also... I can't help but notice how clean and organized I was back then. Hmm, if only I had a little bit of that still in me...
