Tonight I want to snuggle up in this

and watch a qualtiy "whodunit" film.

My pick for best dressed. Although her dress isn't as flashy and over the top as most...I feel it was definitely the most fashion forward look of the night. She never does anything wrong. (Not even Babel)

trou·ble·mak·er (trbl-mkr)

One that stirs up trouble or strife, especially between people.

Every  family has one. Call it what you will...The mischief maker, the bad hat, the tormentor, the agitator, the disturber of peace... I indignantly refer to our little trouble maker as the hell hound. Every morning, Every! Morning! Without fail our hell hound is at it again. Fights breaking out left and right at breakfast time.  Arguments erupting constantly, reducing the children to tears. We can't go one meal without an onslaught.  I  have finally decided to step up and take care of our  "little problem" once and for all. Who needs it? The headaches. The screams. The tears. Our family will be better off  if we just deep-six our little trouble maker all together.  The sad thing is, individually, she was really good to us. It's just when we come together as a  group that things turn violent. Being without her will  be an adjustment for everyone, but hopefully we (and the children especially) will be able to move on and look back on  this last picture and remember  the good times we had when we were alone with her.

So good bye forever seashell spoon! There will be peace at our table at last! You will no longer hold power over my children. No longer will you be in the hands of Vivian as you stare down and taunt Liam, seducing him with your seashell style ways. No longer will Nadia get to slowly lick her mashed potatoes off of you as Vivian screams out of control that her sister is showing off. Nope! From here on out every man, woman and child will be eating from the same style spoon. And it will be glorious.

Pity. If you had only been sent as a set, perhaps your fate could have ended differently... Go seashell spoon, set my children free from your beguiling grasp...Your time of tormenting my family is up.

I Like This One

She got so big so quick. It seemed like just yesterday she looked like this...

But I guess she really looked more like this...

Today I made her promise me she wouldn't get any bigger.
Why is it so hard for me to watch my last baby grow up?

"The moment when you first wake up in the morning is the most wonderful of the twenty-four hours. No matter how weary or dreary you may feel, you possess the certainty that, during the day that lies before you, absolutely anything may happen. And the fact that it practically always doesn't, matters not a jot. The possibility is always there."

Monica Baldwin

This is a beautiful painting by Melissa Payne Baker. I  have the perfect spot for it right above my bathtub. Although it comes gallery wrapped, I will have it set in a heavy guilded frame. It is going to be quite exquisite against my grey walls.

What does my bathroom look like you ask? Allow me to give you a little peek...

I Never Met A Red Door I didn't Like

Who doesn't love a red door? I can't think of a single house that a red door wouldn't look smashing on. It goes with every color of brick, siding, stucco or stone. I find it to be extremely inviting and can add a sense of tradition to any home. And, if you are a fan of Feng Shui, you will know that a red door is considered  auspicious or lucky. So don't delay! If you feel your front door could use a little spirit, get to your local paint store and pick up a gallon of luscious red.

PS... Some Feng Shui believers say that having too much red can cause tension in
your body and relationships... So if you are sensitive to that, You can always do pink.

I Love This Today.
And I'm pretty sure I'll love it tomorrow because I loved it yesterday.

 The Turtle and The Hippo

Have you ever been touched by a story that you love so much, you have to write it down and keep it in a safe place so you don't forget it?  For me, The Turtle and The Hippo is that story. I saw this on The Today Show in 2005 and have been in love with it ever since. I was just thinking about it today. I had to do some digging, but I found it! (No, it didn't occur to me to look it up online until a minute ago when I was wishing I could post these tender pictures here on my blog... Long day anyone?)

This story is an amazing example of the most unconventional, tenderhearted relationship I have ever seen. I know it's old news, but I never get tired of seeing these pictures. I hope you find them as sweet and  heartwarming as I do.

NAIROBI (AFP) - A baby hippopotamus that survived the tsunami waves on the Kenyan coast has formed a strong bond with a giant male century-old tortoise, in an animal facility in the port city of Mombassa.

The hippopotamus, nicknamed Owen and weighing about 300 kilograms (650 pounds), was swept down Sabaki River into the Indian Ocean, then forced back to shore when tsunami waves struck the Kenyan coast on December 26, before wildlife rangers rescued him. “It is incredible. A-less-than-a-year-old hippo has adopted a male tortoise, about a century old, and the tortoise seems to be very happy with being a ‘mother’,” ecologist Paula Kahumbu, who is in charge of Lafarge Park, told AFP.

“After he was swept and lost his mother, the hippo was traumatized. He had to look for someone to be a surrogate mother. Fortunately, he landed on the tortoise and established a very strong bond. They swim, eat and sleep together,” the ecologist added. “The hippo follows the tortoise exactly the way he follows his mother. If somebody approaches the tortoise, the hippo becomes aggressive, as if protecting its biological mother.”

“The hippo is a young baby, he was left at a very tender age and by nature, hippos are social animals that like to stay with their mothers for four years.”
