Keeping My Cool

It was another peaceful night. I was in my typical deep slumber... The kind where nothing stirs me except scary dreams or my compulsion to use the bathroom. (Which thank heavens, hasn't been nearly the issue it used to be.) Usually by morning, we end up with two or three children sleeping with us due to boredom, scary dreams or their compulsion to use the bathroom. (Which has only gotten worse.) As standard routine, Vivian stumbled into bed with us and snuggled her cute little head in the crook of my shoulder. Her little face resting on my chest, her sweet soft breath on my chin.

At some point in the night I woke from a scary dream. Realizing I needed to use the bathroom, I carefully scooted Vivian off my arm and with my nightmare fresh on my mind,  cautiously walked to the bathroom. As I stood at the sink washing my hands,  I half glanced into the mirror and horror struck my sleepy eyes. I was covered in blood. It was  all over my chest, my neck and the side of my face. Panic set in. I quickly ruled out the Godfather and the head of my favorite race horse in my covers scenario and skipped right to the nightmare I'd just had. Thinking I had just committed an atrocious crime that I could not recall,  I turned to run out of the bathroom only to see this terrifying vision staring at me...

My thoughts suddenly changed from thinking I had caused this horrific crime to thinking my precious Viv had become possessed and was out for blood. Because I am an irrational woman, visions of brutal violence were swirling around in my head. As I ran to her, I screamed for Tom to wake up. I was  starting to scrub her face when he casually walked in and calmly said "Uh oh, looks like Vivi has a bloody nose."

Why hadn't I thought of that?

Sorry Vivi, I didn't mean to jump to conclusions...

Note: To my credit, the bloody pics were taken after I had started to clean her up... She really was much scarier

Oh my gosh! That would have freaked me out too! For sure! I'm certainly not very rational when I'm half asleep, so to find myself covered in blood would have just sent me into hysterics I think.

That has happened so many times with Ella. I have some wicked pics of her, most taken in the middle of the night. Poor little Vivi and poor little Lynds for having to clean off the mayhem. And of course, for the last actor in this nightmare, the cautious, nearly monotone Tom. That is exactly what Austin does...every time.
